MSL's Environmental Services focus on managing
environmental risk - helping customers to meet their legal
obligations through cost effective solutions.
Government regulations and compliance targets are
becoming more rigorous. Businesses that practice good
environmental management will secure competitive
advantage in addition to compliance.
The Environmental Services that MSL offer cover the
following issues:
Water Legionella Testing
It is legislation (L8 ACOP) that all commercial buildings and offices as well as any other establishments that the public have access to must have a risk assessment and where required ongoing management and monitoring of the water course within the building to prevent legionella bacteria forming. MSL can provide:- The risk assessment and analysis, including a CAD drawing of the water course within the building identifying the requirements and remedial actions.
- The remedial actions and ongoing measurement and monitoring of the system including management of the data making it easy to access and use when required.
Energy Performance
Commercial buildings must now show just how energy efficient they are under new regulations which began to come into force in April 2008.An Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) is now required on all non-residential buildings over 2500 sq metres and will be extended to virtually all non-residential buildings.
MSL can provide an assessment, together with an energy rating that will be certified and valid for a period of 10 years.
Asbestos Services
The Control of Asbestos at Work Regulations have explicit legal duties affecting anyone who owns, occupies, manages or has responsibilities for premises which may contain asbestos. It is a legal duty to manage the risk from this material.MSL can provide:
- Management plans and risk assessments of the premises to help comply with the legal duty.
- Type 1, type 2 and type 3 surveys including analysis to help locate, identify and subsequently manage the asbestos and associated risks.
- The removal and abatement of asbestos including project management of the scheme.
- Asbestos awareness training which again is a legal obligation for all employees and contractors who may come into or work in the vicinity of asbestos.
Waste Management
The Landfill Directive legislation implemented in July 2006 is having major changes on how waste is handled and disposed. The emphasis is clearly on recovery and recycling of materials to meet good environmental practice.MSL can provide:
- Full audit and analysis of your waste and recycling requirements to meet the legislation criteria including and ensuring the correct paperwork is in place.
- Collection services of waste which is appropriate to the information collected by the audit.
- Collection services of recyclable materials and disposal at the suitable facilities for best use of the material.
Event Management
Managing potentially dangerous occurences at your premises such as open flame repairs, water sprinkler maintenance or lift/escalator maintenance. MSL can provide:- A hazard management system within occupied premises to reduce the likelihood of fires and other costly hazards.
- The risk assessment and experience to develop, manage and monitor procedures to reduce the likelihood of damage and unsafe environments.
- The issuing of work permits to contractors after they have been rigorously vetted to ensure they are carrying out a safe method of working.
